Based on the traditional mariner style, the Skipper Cap Tweed is just at home on land as it is on the sea.
The Skipper Cap is available in a selection of authentic Irish Tweeds. For a traditional look opt for the deep navy or black cosy wools, or for an Irish twist, opt for a Salt and Pepper tweed with lively colourful flecks.
Each piece is crafted using authentic, high-quality Donegal, Irish & Scottish Harris woollen tweeds. Wool is an ideal, natural fabric for headwear as it is naturally warm, breathable, stain resistant, crease resistant and above all eco-friendly. We have a curated selection of tweeds available whether looking for a traditional herringbone tweed, or a famous Salt & Pepper tweed with vibrant colourful flecks.

Every piece is handmade, so allow 5–15 working days for production before dispatch. Delivery times below count from dispatch.

Exchanges and returns
You can return or exchange items within 30 days of receiving them (Europe, USA and Canada). Items must be unworn, in original condition, with all tags and labels attached. Regular-priced items can be returned or exchanged. Sale items are exchange only. Custom-made items (size or colour) can't be returned or exchanged.

Europe: €16.00 (UPS)
USA and Canada: €24.95 (UPS)
Postage is at your cost unless the error was ours. The item stays your responsibility until it reaches the workshop, so keep your proof of postage.
To start, email info@hannahats.com with the item and your reason. We'll send a payment link for the postage charge, then a returns label within 24 hours. Print the label and the three invoices, and attach the invoices to the outside of the box to avoid duties and taxes. Returns without the Returns Form may not be processed.
Approved returns are refunded to your original payment method, minus the original shipping cost. UK, Northern Ireland and rest-of-world customers should email info@hannahats.com for a tailored policy.

- Products should be stored in cool, dry, airy conditions and not exposed to direct sunlight.
- Wool products are naturally water repellent and resistant, but not fully waterproof. Should your cap/hat get soaked, we would recommend putting a small towel inside the cap/hat, place it on a towel and allow it to dry naturally indoors, away from any heat source.
- Products should not be machine washed or tumble dried.
- Products should not be treated with substances (e.g.) starch, soaps, sprays.
- Products should be dry cleaned only using a delicate cycle with less moisture.
- If creasing occurs, you can press your cap at home using an iron on a medium to high heat, you can see a video showing you how to do this on our Headwear Product Care page

I like this hat immensely. Similar type hats often use a plastic band for structure. This cap headband is fabric. Instantly comfortable and nicely warm for the winter here in Maine. Measure your head size precisely as this is a fitted cap. I will buy another color soon. I highly recommend these folks!!!!

I always loved this particular cap style. However I wasn’t a fan of the overly decorated looks of the classic Greek fisherman hat. This type is exactly what I was looking for… stylish in a simple way. Pay attention to the hat sizing and you should be fine. I also appreciate the fact the sweatband is made of fabric and not plastic like most others.

It was quite a bit larger than XL (more like XXL) but I put a couple stitches in back and fits fine now.

I love this Irish tweed skipper cap. But I love retro clothing in general. This cap reminds me of what the labor class men wore in the film TITANIC. It's practical, not especially of the wealthy classes, but it looks good. I could wear it with a tweed blazer, sweater and Jean's or slacks. By today's standards, it could be considered dress casual.

Terrific hat that feels so good to wear!
This is my replacement hat for my first. I now have 9th hat I now have 7 harringbone hats and 2 Tweed. Great hats get compliment all the time. There just no hat but a Hanna hat.

Over the years, I have bought and enjoyed your hats. We suffered a serious health issue and lost everything and only now have begun the trip back from destitution. One of the first replacements was my signature Captains cap, that has been a trademark of mine for the past 20 years. Feels great on and looks great.

I have worn this cap daily when I have gone out, although limited amount of time due to the pandemic. It is comfortable enough that I forget it is on my head! I have several cap from Hanna and now I have problems knowing which to wear!
It is the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night. I have been wearing Hanna hats for 15 years now. The last two years it has been the captain’s hat. I bought my first one in Port Townsend Washington, USA, and the second one from the wonderful folks at Hanna Hats. The first one is now at the dry cleaners.

The black skipper's cap was for my daughter, and she loves it (and all things black!). Sadly, she does not like having her picture taken! So the attached is me. We were sold on them after I acquired my first one a few weeks ago at an Irish shop in Newcastle, just west of Port Hope. A friend had taken over the shop, and among the stock items was the cap I'm wearing in the photo. They had another large in a greenish-olive herringbone, and I got that one last week. They are comfortable, warm, and, best of all, a lovely break from the ubiquitous baseball cap!
Love all of my Hanna caps! Can't leave the house without them. John provides superb service and extremely patient. Hope you will bring in more new wool fabric colours and styles! Wished you have XS sizes for smaller women like me.
