Railway Heritage Centre

The Award Winning Donegal Railway Museum is considered one of the county’s hidden gems and is located 150 metres from our workshop and 300
metres from the centre of town.

Donegal had the largest narrow-gauge railway network in the British Isles, and operated one of the first railway vehicles with an internal combustion engine in the world.

Donegal Castle

Towering over the River Eske, located on the same street as Hanna Hats, stands Donegal Castle. Red Hugh O’Donnell himself built it as his personal fortress in the fifteenth century. It is said that, leaving to seek succour in Spain in the wake of the Battle of Kinsale, Hugh determined to make sure his castle would never ever fall into English hands – by setting it on fire.

Donegal Bay Waterbus

Welcome to Ireland’s largest purpose-built Waterbus. Since our first sailing in 2006, we have been providing knowledge of our town, fantastic entertainment and memories that last a lifetime on each and every trip.

The boat sets sail from the scenic Donegal Town pier which is just a 500m walk from the centre of the town, the Diamond. The 75-minute cruise travels around the seven Green Islands with many points of interest on the way. Relax in the air-conditioned lounge or sit on the open-topped upper deck for the ultimate viewing experience.
