Created in the 1960’s and very close in design to the very first Hanna Hat ever made by founder David Hanna, our Walking Hat style is handcrafted by our specialist hat team in Donegal, Ireland and remains our most popular hat style.
The structured body and brim ensure a secure and comfortable fit, whilst the decorative feathers on the brim complement the colourful flecks in the tweeds.
Just like the head that wears this hat, each one is totally unique!
Please note that as each patchwork hat is unique it will vary from the photograph.
At Hanna Hats we use the highest quality tweeds to create our patchworks, and often cut patches from irregular shapes which are a by-product of our production, adding additional sustainability credentials to this eco-friendly cloth.

Every piece is handmade, so allow 5–15 working days for production before dispatch. Delivery times below count from dispatch.
Free worldwide shipping on orders over €135.
Ireland: UPS Standard, 1–3 working days. Free on orders over €55.
UK: Royal Mail, 2–3 working days, €9.00
Europe: UPS Standard, 3–7 working days, €13.95
USA: UPS Priority, 2–5 working days, €12.95
Canada: UPS Priority, 2–10 working days, €16.95
Rest of world: UPS Priority, 5–15 working days, €29.95
Delivery times are estimates and can vary with location and customs. Orders to the UK, EU, Canada and USA are Delivered Duty Paid, so the price you pay is the final price. Exchanges and returns
You can return or exchange items within 30 days of receiving them (Europe, USA and Canada). Items must be unworn, in original condition, with all tags and labels attached. Regular-priced items can be returned or exchanged. Sale items are exchange only. Custom-made items (size or colour) can't be returned or exchanged.
Return and exchange postage:
Ireland: free (An Post)
Europe: €16.00 (UPS)
USA and Canada: €24.95 (UPS)
Postage is at your cost unless the error was ours. The item stays your responsibility until it reaches the workshop, so keep your proof of postage.
To start, email info@hannahats.com with the item and your reason. We'll send a payment link for the postage charge, then a returns label within 24 hours. Print the label and the three invoices, and attach the invoices to the outside of the box to avoid duties and taxes. Returns without the Returns Form may not be processed.
Approved returns are refunded to your original payment method, minus the original shipping cost. UK, Northern Ireland and rest-of-world customers should email info@hannahats.com for a tailored policy.

- Products should be stored in cool, dry, airy conditions and not exposed to direct sunlight.
- Wool products are naturally water repellent and resistant, but not fully waterproof. Should your cap/hat get soaked, we would recommend putting a small towel inside the cap/hat, place it on a towel and allow it to dry naturally indoors, away from any heat source.
- Products should not be machine washed or tumble dried.
- Products should not be treated with substances (e.g.) starch, soaps, sprays.
- Products should be dry cleaned only using a delicate cycle with less moisture.
- If creasing occurs, you can press your cap at home using an iron on a medium to high heat, you can see a video showing you how to do this on our Headwear Product Care page

I purchased my first Hanna Hat in 1996. My latest was this Walking Hat Patchwork Tweed (IXL 62-63cm). I have a large head and it fit perfectly and was of outstanding quality. I highly recommend buying this and any of the hats on this website.

Absolutely love this hat! Picked up at the Hanna Hat store in Donegal on a recent trip to Ireland. Thought I’d test it out as a winter hat in the Wisconsin (America) winter. A fabulous looking hat! (Though truth be told, my ears were a wee bit chilly during the walk. Worth it though.)

I love my new hat from Donegal Hats (my second hat from them). I bought the Patchwork Walking Hat and it not only looks good, but serves the purpose for which I bought it-- to cover my head! I have a few of your flat caps, as do some dear friends. I am trying to persuade my oldest friend who is Scottish (I lived 45 years in Scotland) that Harris Tweed isn’t the only Celtic fabric worth celebrating.

I love the look, and the feel, of this hat. High quality, it is light years away from the mundane style of a regular ball cap. My wife had reservations about me getting this hat. When I put it on, she said "I like it!". It fits precisely, taking just a day or so of wearing to perfectly shape to my head - feels like I have had it forever. Looking forward to my next purchase :)
My Dad wore one of your walking hats though out my youth. As a child his hat fit me but I quickly out grew his hat size. I loved his hat and I always wanted wished his hat would fit. During the pandemic I felt I needed to treat myself to a new Hanna hat and satisfy my want for a hat like my dad's. I ordered my hat. My hat quickly arrived in the mail but it was just a bit too small. Rather than returning it I simply ordered a larger size.
