Hanna Hats: How do I measure my head?

Hanna Hats: How do I measure my head?

We often get asked ‘how do I measure my head?’ or ‘how do I figure out my head size?’ ‘How do I do it?’ So, we’ve decided to do a short blog post to help you figure out your head size.

What do I need to measure my/or someone else’s head?

  • If possible, have someone to help you. It's hard to see the back of your head!!
  • A measuring tape with cm’s or inches on it.
  • Something to take note of your size once measured.

How do I measure my/someone else’s head?

Step 1: Get a measuring tape with cm’s or inches on it.

Step 2: Wrap the measuring tape around your head just above your ears and eyebrows.

Ensure the tape comes down far enough at the back of your head.

Step 3: Take note of your measurement and write it down.

Step 4: Use the size chart below to help you determine which size you should get in a Hanna Hat.

You can watch our head measuring video here.

I know my head size; how do I decide which size Hanna Hat to go for?

You can use our size chart below to figure out which size you should get in a Hanna Hat or cap.

I don’t know my head size, but I wear caps from other brands, will that help me figure it out?

Some brands will have the size tab inside, others will label it a general size and have their corresponding size charts on their websites. Although this might help guide you in the right direction, we would still recommend you measure your head to ensure you have an accurate size before ordering.

I would like to buy a cap for a young child, how do I measure their head to find out their size?

Use the exact same method as shown in the above photos/video, then use the below Children’s Size Chart to figure out which size Hanna Hat to go for.

If they happen to be smaller than the children’s sizes shown above or in between our children’s sizes and our adult sizes, please message us on our Live Chat or send an email to: info@hannahats.com and we’ll do our best to help you find the perfect cap for them.

If I’m a medium in a cap, will I be a medium in a hat?

Yes, you will be. From the feedback we have received from customers most people take them same size in hats as they do in caps. As with any handcrafted item, there will be slight variance but not enough to warrant going for a different size. Each of our caps and hats are size checked before they leave our workshop to ensure consistency throughout our products.

Is there any difference between the fitting of your tweed caps and your linen caps?

Most of our customers go for the same size in their linen caps as they do in their tweed caps, however we have had a few say that our linen caps are of a bigger fitting. Customers may feel this way as the nature of linen means it’s lighter and it moulds the head differently to a tweed cap.

We hope this blog helps you figure out your size so there’s no more guessing games when it comes to sizing. If you have any other questions regarding sizing that we haven’t addressed above, please message us on our live chat and we’ll do our best to assist you. If you found this blog post helpful, please share it with someone else who needs help figuring out their head size.

Now that you’ve figured out your size, you might enjoy reading our Hanna Hats Style Guide which will help you find the perfect Hanna Hats style for you.
